CAD/CAM Dentistry Pioneer Alex Touchstone, DDS is First American Dentist Appointed to the Clinical Advisory Board of Natural Dental ImplantsTM (NDI)

Hattiesburg, MS – March 4, 2013 –  Alex Touchstone, DDS a leading authority on digital restorative dentistry and chairside CAD/CAD technology, was recently appointed to the clinical advisory board of Natural Dental ImplantsTM.

In this role, Dr. Touchstone will work with NDI as they launch  the Replicate Nonsurgical Tooth Replacement System™ (www.replicatetooth.com), an alternative to traditional dental implants and three unit dental bridges, by developing educational programs, hands-on workshops and by incorporating the system in his cosmetic and restorative dental practice in Hattiesburg, MS.

“Cosmetic and restorative dentistry is on a perpetual quest to create an idealized replica of natural dentition,” explained Touchstone. “I'm very excited about the Replicate Nonsurgical Tooth Replacement System™ because it is 100% customized to the anatomical shape of the tooth being replaced. In fact, each Replicate Tooth™ is as unique as the patient it is designed for, from the tip of the root to the top of the crown – that's a major development!”

Specifically, Replicate is indicated only for single-tooth replacement, with the process beginning prior to tooth extraction. Using data collected from a CBCT scan and PVS or digital impression
of the tooth crown, NDI's laboratory, located in Berlin, Germany, designs a patient-specific replacement tooth using proprietary CAD software.
The implant root is an  anatomical copy of the tooth to be extracted. The abutment and crown are designed from a digitized impression. The customized components are CAM-manufactured from r titanium and zirconia.  The Replicate Tooth is delivered as a single component, root, abutment and crown/splint, assembled, sterilized and ready for placement.
The titanium root  and zirconia abutment are fused together to ensure the esthetics of the finished tooth are not compromised close to the gingival margin and to eliminate any subgingival gap where bacteria might accumulate.
“We're very pleased that Dr. Touchstone joined our clinical advisory team,” said Natural Dental Implants CEO, Lea Nesbit. “His strong background and reputation as an advocate and educator for chair side CAD/CAM and other digital technologies, plus his day-to-day accomplishments as a practicing cosmetic and restorative dentist are going to be great assets as we introduce Replicate to American dentists.”
The Replicate Nonsurgical Tooth Replacement System is currently available in the European Union. The official launch date for the U.S. market and will be determined once FDA clearance is received. For more information, visit  www.replicatetooth.com.
